Astrology Birth Chart GPT
Curiosity got the best of me. It’s free to explore. I need to know why people are using these weird GPTs! Astrology Birth Chart GPT has been number one in the “Lifestyle” category since it came out! I realize astrology is popular in the US and worldwide, but I’m still surprised to see an astrology AI as number one out of so many custom GPTs .
I used the first prompt astrology AI suggested. “What does my birth chart say about me?” The GPT responded by asking for the date, time, and place of my birth. I wasn’t sure about the exact time of my birth, but after a quick text exchange with my mother, I was able to input everything.
I was surprised to receive a 488-word response. That’s long for a GPT! Though I’ve never developed an interest in astrology, I know my sun sign is Virgo. I’m aware of traits typically attributed to that sign, and that information was covered in the first paragraph of the response. The rest of the response was all new information to me. It went on to explain all my other signs:
- Moon sign is Capricorn
- Rising sign was Aquarius
- Mercury in Virgo
- Venus in Leo
- Mars in Libra
- Jupiter in Scorpio
- Saturn in Libra
- Uranus in Sagittarius
- Neptune in Sagittarius
- Pluto in Libra
Each sign was annotated with a full explanation of its significance. For example, after “Moon in Capricorn”, GPT went on to say this is “suggesting that you are emotionally disciplined and value stability and structure in your personal life. You may have a serious approach to your emotions and seek security and long-term goals.” While I feel like that statement would apply to most female elder millennials, I appreciate the insight.
This is a detailed birth chart! However, it doesn’t take AI to do a birth chart, just an extensive database. A real test would be to prompt the GPT to apply this chart to a specific scenario.
Prompt: What Would Be a Good Career for Me Based on This Info?
GPT answered with the following suggestions:
- Analytical and detail-oriented careers
- Creative and expressive roles
- Leadership and management
- Social and humanitarian work
- Law and Justice
- Exploration and adventure
- Transformational and investigative roles
Each of these was well-written and annotated with explanations. Does it fit me? I saw a lot more that did not fit me in this response than on the birth chart response. I have intentionally avoided leadership and management roles, and I’m notoriously not an adventurer. However, for the things that did fit, it was interesting to think about the underlying reasons for my actions. Under social and humanitarian work, it said I might enjoy a career in technology because I might want to help make the world a better place. One of the reasons I decided to start writing for humans was to help bring the benefits of generative AI to more people. Reading that part made me feel seen!
Overall, I thought this AI was knowledgeable about astrology and good fun for someone with a casual interest. A serious student of astrology probably doesn’t need this AI, and may find minor inaccuracies, like with any AI. However, it was fun and interesting for this skeptic to get a little extra insight.
Rizz GPT
My kids have been telling me to write about the Rizz GPT for a while. They keep saying, “It’s hilarious!” I’d ask for an example, but they’d inevitably just tell me, “It boosts your Rizz!” In hindsight, I think they thought it was hilarious because they’d seen examples of its use on TikTok and YouTube. Now I know why the videos are funny, because anyone actually using anything out of this AI in real life would, indeed, be hilarious.
Prompt: What is Rizz?
The one quality answer I got out of this AI was with this prompt. It gave an excellent definition of this Gen Z slang in layperson terms.
“Rizz” is a slang term that refers to someone’s charisma or ability to attract and charm others, especially in a romantic context. It’s short for “charisma,” and is often used to describe someone with a smooth, confident, and engaging personality. If someone is said to have “rizz,” it means they can easily flirt or make connections with people through their charm and wit.”
Prompt: Give 5 Good Pickup Lines for a 73-Year-Old to Use at the Nursing Home
I wanted to come up with a goofy situation, so the first thing that came to mind was how folks in a nursing home can improve their game. These were the answers.
- “Do you have a map? Because I just got lost in your eyes, and I can’t find my way back!”
- “Are we at a senior prom? Because I feel like dancing every time I see you.”
- “If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put U and I together - right next to B-I-N-G-O!”
- “Are you a magician? Every time I look at you, everyone else disappears.”
- “Excuse me, but you must be the reason retirement is called the golden years.”
If I were involved in training this AI, I’d consider this response a failure. In addition to the fact that many of these aren’t especially witty, funny, or well-written, some aren’t relevant to the prompt. That’s a big miss! Is the “senior” prom line supposed to be a play on words or did the AI confuse both uses of the word? The inclusion of the “BINGO” piece at the end of the “U” and “I” line doesn’t quite make sense, and the magician and map lines aren’t relevant at all.
Despite this red flag, I pressed on. I described my work, hobbies, kids, and preferences, and asked it to write me a dating profile. The resulting response was poorly written, formulaic, cheesy, and exactly what one would expect from the author of those pickup lines. It later occurred to me that using that profile as an obvious joke on a dating site might actually generate interest. I didn’t test it out, but it made me wonder if I was taking the AI too seriously. Is this AI supposed to be a caricature of Gen Z? Perhaps I’m too old to get the joke. However, not meeting the basic standards of AI we’ve come to expect from GPTs means the joke is poorly executed, in my opinion.
Deep Game
For a writer, this AI was fun! Deep Game is an AI fiction writer that I tested with a variety of prompts, and it nailed them all. At first, I started with the prompt, “New Game.” Deep Game responded by offering several genres of fiction. I chose “war.”
The AI composed a 282-word response describing a WWII-like trench warfare scene. Three trope characters were introduced, and the captain ordered a charge. Deep Game then asked, “What do you do next?” I responded, “Push forward, and yell a battle cry. I may not believe in the cause, but I support my comrades.”
Deep Game then wrote another long response describing our charge and how our squad got pinned down behind a fallen tree. It said I crawled through the mud, inching towards the machine gun nest that had us pinned down. This didn’t make sense to me. If I left my squad behind the cover, how could I crawl forward across open ground without getting targeted by the big guns?
This time, in response to the question, “What do you do next?”, I asked my questions about the lack of cover. Deep Game recognized the difference between me asking a question and continuing the story. It rewrote the response, this time slightly different, but with more cover on the battlefield. This time, my squad laid down suppressive fire as I leaped or crawled from cover to cover. I was impressed by Deep Game’s recognition of the problem! However, I was growing bored with the story.
I opened a new chat. This time, instead of opening with the prompt, “new game”, I inputted a scenario. “I’m stranded on a desert island with only a few supplies. I’ve been collecting rainwater, but it hasn’t rained in days. Supplies are running low. I’m building a raft, and then I will head out of here! Maybe I can make it to a shipping lane.”
Without missing a beat, Deep Game continued the story, “The sun blazes high in the sky, its relentless heat beating down on the small, desolate island. Palm trees sway gently in the breeze, their fronds rustling softly. The sand beneath your feet is hot, almost unbearable. You’ve managed to set up a small camp using the few supplies you had, but with no rain in days, your collected water is dangerously low.”
The writing is verbose and the story lines are archaic. However, that’s typical of AI writing, in my experience. This AI is as good as ChatGPT gets. Of the three GPTs I tried, this is the only one I can see myself using again. I’m thoroughly a non-fiction writer. However, if I did start writing fiction and inevitably got stuck, I think I could enter the plot I had so far to see what it suggested. It could be fun to do with kids. It might also be useful for fantasy tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, because the user can direct the story while Deep Game paints the scenes both with words and art. For those with ChatGPT Plus accounts, it can generate an image of the scene just described. Just use the command “/visualize”.
I love seeing what people are doing with AI. After this experiment, I will be browsing the GPT store more often!
